  1. Default Our First Long Trip - South Carolina to Wyoming

My wife and I are making our first extended RV trip in out 2004 Pace Arrow Gas engine RV in September. Im a little nervous about road conditions with a gasser. Steep climb and descents. We plan on going through Memphis, Fayetteville, Dodge City, Denver, and then on into Wyoming all on interstates. Has anyone traveled this route and how difficult are the interstates in terms of climbing and decending through mountains? Thanks for any advice, Nervous Wreck from SC

    Default Even grades and curves.

Hi, and Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum.

You need worry no longer. The interstates are designed for heavy truck traffic, and as such have grades and curves through the mountains which this traffic can easily handle. Where the climb is extended, you usually find a lane for slower moving traffic. Just join the trucks, most of which use it. Similarly when going down hill, shift down into a lower gear and slowly does it.
