  1. Default First Road Trip: From Fremont to Legoland - Carlsbad, CA 92008

We are planning a road trip from Fremont to Legoland with our two boys (age 6 & 7). Any recommendations on place to stop along the way.

    Welcome to RTA!

Do you really need a place to stop? This is quite drivable in one day if you leave early enough in the morning so you can get through LA before evening rush hour. Are you planning on taking I-5 or US-101?

Default Turning a drive into a Roadtrip.

Hello and welcome to RTA !

You don't mention the single most important thing, how much time do you have planned for the road trip ? As glc mentioned, you could drive there in a day but that doesn't mean you have to. With 2 or 3 days you could drive down the coast on CA1 around Big Sur stopping in Cambria overnight, or Monterey and Cambria with 2 nights to spare and check out more local sights. Another option would be to head further east to Yosemite NP for a day or 2, or if you have to return to Fremont it would make an alternative on the way back, perhaps even include Sequoia NP.

Default Giving the boys time to run.

With two energetic youngsters, it would pay to take more than a day. Though this would probably be more relevant on the way home. I guess like most young ones, they can't wait to get to Legoland.

The coast road on the way down, as suggested above, and Yosemite or Sequoia on the way home. Hearst castle near San Simeon, may interest. The large trees, especially the ones you can walk through, would no doubt fascinate the boys.
