Default Planning for a future road trip

Since they built the hoover dam bypass bridge, can you still take the old 93 route, across the dam into nevada? Granted, the bridge is alot quicker, but you can't see anything from it.

The only thing you can do is take the old route across the dam from the Nevada side. It dead ends in a parking lot on the Arizona side and the old road on the Arizona side is blocked off.

What is the Kingman wash access road? I keep seeing it on the map.

There are essentially 2 sections of that road, and it crosses new 93 at Exit 2. The western portion is actually old 93, and it's closed. The eastern portion is a rough unpaved road down to the shore of Lake Mead above the dam.

Here is a PDF with the regulations for crossing the dam.

Default Turn off for the dam.

I was there only a few weeks ago. Yes, you are right, you cannot see much from the bridge, but you can turn off soon after, and go over the dam. There are many spots to park and see the views from different levels. There's a visitor centre where you can also book onto the tours of the dam. The cost of parkiing at the visitor centre was a bit stiff, though!

wait, so you go over the bridge, then go over the dam to get to Nevada...or is this optional now?

There is only one way to get from AZ to NV - over the new bridge on new 93. The bridge is on the AZ-NV border, as is the dam. The only access to the dam is from the NV side on old 93, which is now 172. You can cross the dam back into AZ, but it dead ends into parking lots. Old 93 on the AZ side between the parking lots and new 93 is closed. The dam is no longer open to through traffic.

    Read the PDF I linked.
