  1. Default Advice...West Coast, should I visit Vancouver?

    Hi there!
4 weeks, LA to San Diego to Grand Canyon to Yellowstone, Seattle, Portland, Napa Valley, San Francisco and back to LA.

Question is, should I go to Vancouver when in Seattle? I would have to renew my passport which costs $170!

    Grateful for any advice.

Default One for you to answer.

Only you can really answer that question based on how much you want to go to Vancouver against how $170 will affect your budget and whether or not you are going to need a passport in the near future for other plans.

It sounds like a nice trip planned and although 4 weeks is a nice amount of time you will have no shortage of places to visit and things to do along the way to fill your time.

I have to do more research I guess...heard Victoria is nice.

You'll have to make the decision based on your own preferences (and perhaps cost).

Vancouver is a lovely city with quite a bit to see (north, west and south). The drive to Whistler is very scenic with provincial parks along the way and not long. The highway was improved for winter Olympics. Many things to do in summer around this mountain resort. Vancouver island (includes Victoria) is also lovely but does require a plane, boat or ferry trip.

Note that right now, a bridge is washed out on I5 between Seattle and the Canadian border.

Seattle and the Pacific Northwest region (Washington, Oregon and northern CA) are also lovely with many national parks (North Cascades, Olympic, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Lassen).

So there's no right or wrong choice because all options are great.

    Default well....

Yellowstone is a huge place, and if you can afford to stay inside the park, that is always a good choice.

Having said that, you are right there are a ton of options, and you haven't given us any idea of what you are looking for, so it will be pretty difficult for anyone to give you any specific ideas about places you might be interested in.

Found a place....Old Faithful Lodge/Rough Rider Cabins. Inside the park. Thought it would be fun.

Suggestions on where to stay in San Diego? Not too expensive.
