  1. Default Chicago to Glacier Nat'l Park in 10 days?

Hi! Is it possible to travel from Chicago to Glacier National Park in 9-10 days? I plan to visit Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, Badlands, and Mount Rushmore. Is this too ambitious in such a short time constraint?

Any tips are welcome! First time roadtripper here...

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

It would be possible, but it would have to be a relatively quick trip.

You're looking at 3 days of driving to Glacier, 1 day from Glacier to Yellowstone, 1 from Yellowstone to Rushmore/Badlands and then 2 back to Chicago. So that's 7 days of driving, leaving roughly 3 full days of siteseeing. That's not a lot, especially when Glacier and Yellowstone are pretty big places, but it would give you time to at least take a quick look around.

You put this in the spring section, so it does have to be asked, when are you thinking about doing this trip? Going to the Sun Road through Glacier typically doesn't open up until June.

  3. Default

The only time my companion and I have is May 23 - June 2. Was not aware that the road wouldn't be open. I guess we could make it a trip to Yellowstone and back and spend a little more time at each place, but I've heard Glacier is beautiful and did want to try to see it...

After doing some more researching, I think you're right. Going to save Glacier for another time, and focus on Yellowstone instead!
