  1. Default road trip advice

    I'm new to this forum.
I'm planning a road trip this August and one of the legs involves driving from Las Vegas to San Francisco.
I'm travelling with the family (daughters ages 14 and 12).
We'd like to see Death Valley and then we are stuck between the choice of either heading up to Yosemite and then across to SF or going South and round to Sequoia/ Kings Canyon as an alternative to Yosemite before heading up to SF.
I understand Yosemite will be very busy in August.
Are the other National Parks a better option or is this a much longer detour?
Any advice would be welcome...also on best places to stay,

I would vote for Yosemite every time, entering via the Tioga Pass. If time permits, then you can go from Yosemite to Sequoia on the way to SF. If not, you can see big trees in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite.

    Default 'Yo' for Yosemite

Both are wonderful parks and both will be busy during August. If I were to choose between the two then Yosemite would win for me, add to that the lovely drive up 395 and across the wonderful Tioga Pass [CA120]into the valley and it's a clear winner for me.

As mentioned above, you can visit the giant Sequoia trees in Yosemite at Mariposa Grove and I would also recommend you drive up to Glacier Point and prepare to be amazed !

How many nights are you planning to spend between LV and SF?
