  1. Default Traveling from Baton Rouge to New Orleans 2013

    Hi,

We are in Baton Rouge on the weekend before Mardi Gras, and plan to go New Orleans on Fat Tuesday (02/12/13). We plan to start early in the morning @ 4-5 am to avoid traffic, find a parking spot, stay there all day and head out 5-6 pm. Does it look like a feasible plan?
We are not sure how the traffic will be in the early hours of the morning from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. Also, we found a few sites like Park Whiz, which can gurantee a parking spot all day. Should we reserve a spot before we get there?

    Thanks guys.

Have you considered taking public transportation?

The LA Swift bus runs on a weekend schedule on Fat Tuesday. Leave BR at 6:30am, arrive NO at 8:13am - leave NO at 6:30pm, arrive BR at 8:13pm. 10 bucks round trip.

  3. Default Travelling from Baton Rouge to New Orleans

    Hello,

We are planning to visit New Orleans from Baton Rouge on Fat Tuesday (02/12/13). We are planning to start early in the morning at 4-5 AM to avoid traffic, find a parking spot, stay there all day and head out at 5-6 PM. Does it look like a feasible plan? We are booking parking spot through parkwhiz.com. Has anyone booked with parkwhiz at new orleans.
Are we going to encounter traffic while going at that early in the morning!!
Please let us know the experience during MardiGras time.
    Thanks.

    Regards

I can't speak specifically to NOLA or Mardi Gras, but I can say that in general trying to get out of the center of a major city at 5-6 pm is generally going to mean heavy traffic - and those problems tend to be worse when there is a major event.

GLC's bus idea sounds like a bargain and a much better idea that the hassle of commuting.
