    Welcome to the RTA forum!

There's no shortage of options. Certainly, you could follow the coast and see one of the most amazing coastal drives in the world, which also takes you through San Francisco, Redwoods National Park and places like the Dunes in Oregon.

You could also look at the many mountain attractions, like Sequoia, Yosemite, Crater Lake, etc.

Of course there's a whole lot more, but those are some of the biggest options to get you started. Once you've got a few ideas of your own, we can be a whole lot more helpful in helping you put your ideal trip together.

Default The difference a day makes.

If you are taking the scenic coastal highway to San Fran [recommended] you will need an overnight stop along the way, Cambria/Morro Bay area is a popular choice. You could then continue up the coast via Muir woods, Golden Gate Recreation area, Humboltd State park [Avenue of the Giants] and Redwood NP into Oregon. Where to stay will depend on if it ends up to be a 4 day or 5 day trip. With 4 days stopping at Cambria, SF and Eureka could work nicely, with 5 days you could do the same and spens a full day in SF or part of the day and stop before Eureka, say Fort Bragg and next day around Brookings. To be able to continue up the Oregon coast and have time to enjoy the sights, the 5th day will make a big difference. Although it's not a huge distance the coast road is slow going so allow for that.

Hey Dave thanks for this, 5 days it is then i think i can spend a few days in Portland and then head back to UK from there (not driving of course) so 5 days would be the following Night stop overs ?
    :

    Night 1 : Cambria/Morro Bay area

    Night 2 : SF

    Night 3 : Fort Bragg

    Night 4 : brookings

    Night 5 Portland

    Thanks!

    Default Own it.

It's certainly a base from which to work, but I would encourage you to get the map out and do a little of your own research before deciding as you might want to spend more time in one area than in another, based on your interests. Of course you wouldn't have to book in advance and therefor could just 'go with it' and see where you end up for the night and if you get behind on time just head for the Interstate.

The great thing about the roadtrip is being able to make it unique to you and your tastes, we are just here to help you through the process. Make it your own ! ;-)
