  1. Default Early April RV trip Bryce/Grand Canyon

We are a family of four and are hoping to tour the national parks in early April

We plan to fly into Vegas, rent an RV and drive from Zion, to Bryce and then to Grand Canyon

Is early April still too snowy?

Is a week too short a time for this trip?

We would arrive in Vegas on Friday, pick up RV Saturday morning and return the following Saturday

Any advice would be appreciated - Thank you!

Default Can be a nice time to visit, if you don't mind the cold.

    Hello and welcome to RTA!

It's impossible to predict what the weather may have in store for April and it's possible you could see snow and freezing temps, moreso at Bryce canyon which is at high elevation. If you pack warm layered clothing and don't mind cold weather it can be a great time to visit before the crowds arrive. Zion is at lower altitude and generally warmer and the south rim 'somewhere inbetween' the two. Note; The North rim will be closed to vehicles and doesn't usually open up until Mid May. You can get climate data by putting the place name and month followed by 'weather' into your search engine as a guide, but that's no garuantee for when you are there.

With 7 days you can have a nice trip, I would recommend a couple of nights at Zion and GC and one could be enough at Bryce. You could break the journey from Bryce to GC with a night near Lake Powell or take a detour to Monument valley. The Watchman campground in Zion is nice, Rubys Inn RV park for Bryce canyon has hook ups as does the Trailer village at the South rim. You will have to pay a small additional fee to drive through the Mount carmel tunnel on route to Bryce when in an RV which may mean a short delay while they stop other vehicles entering from the other end. This done so that you can drive down the middle of the road for height clearance purposes. It's a lovely drive and you might want to make short stops at Checkaboard Mesa and Red Rock state Park on the way.

Default You can't predict the weather

It's impossible to tell what the weather will be so far in advance of the trip. However, I would think a light dusting of snow, if possible, would give an interesting dynamic to your visit to the area. Further, since you plan to go in April, you will not have to deal with the larger crowds that are present during the height of the tourist season.
