  1. Default DC to Chicago Via Niagara Falls

We have two weeks in late June, early July. I am thinking of spending a week getting to Chicago. Three days in the Finger Lakes, a day in Niagara Falls, and then three days coming down the Canada side to Chicago. Does this make sense, and can anyone give me some great sights to see along this route? We love history, hiking, the water, art and antiques and food. Two kids, 12 and 13.

The kids might get a kick out of Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Seashore. Both are just off I-94 at Exit 26.

If you're at all interested in Little Leauge, the Little League World Series site is located in Williamsport and it's a fun stop.

Not to far from the Finger Lakes Region is Letchworth State Park near Portageville, NY. It's a really scenic drive through the park.

You didn't say if you were American or Canadian, but remember the new border crossing regulations. A passport for each of you is in order, if you don't already have one now is the time to apply!
