    Default To Hell And Back

    Good Morning,
I am currently occupied in Kuwait. I`m planning to ride from Killeen, Tx to Hell, Mi and back. I am currently trying to find good info on reliable touring or cruising motorcycle to get me there. Information on the best way to store gear on the bike. As well as an overall line up of attractions to see on the way, and good places to hold up. Any help with ideas would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Welcome!

Are you looking to rent or buy the bike?

There are fans of every brand out there - and it all depends on whether you are buying new or used and what your budget is. One that comes to mind right away is a Harley Road King.

While we have a few motorcycle enthusiasts on this forum, its not really the focus of this site. I doesn't hurt to ask, but you might have more luck asking your question about bikes and gear on a forum more specific to motorcycling.

As far as your trip itself, how much time do you have available? How far are you comfortable riding in a day? What kinds of things are you interested in and might qualify as "great attractions?"

In the meantime, be sure to check out the RTA Map Center which can provide more ideas to get you started.

It will be a two week trip, more of a walk about, riding however much I feel that day. I was looking for attractions from dallas through memphis, indianapollis, and hell Michigan. Im looking for back roads off the highway sight seeing of country local towns, any attractions that feature americana at its finest. Basically looking for a road trip that makes you proud to be an american. Anybody can plot on mapquest, Im looking for the real america from each state along the way. Off the beaten path, and epic views of middle america.

    Default to the map

Well, I'd say my first instinct would be to follow the Nachez Trace parkway one direction towards Nashville, then continuing on up through the hills of Kentucky and Indiana, around Mammoth Cave. The other direction, I might do something like Route 66 from Chicago to St. Louis, and then follow the Great River Road south from there.

I will say that the RTA Map Center is not a program that copies mapquest just to give you driving directions, in fact, step by step directions are not included in it. Rather it is a tool that lets you find attraction ideas personally reviewed by RTA contributors that would be along or near your path.
