  1. Default Road Trip in September From Salt Lake City to Las Vegas

    Hi all.

Me and a friend are flying over to the LA in September to drive from LA in a loop around to Las Vegas. We have the majoirty of the journey planned out, but are struggling for ideas of things to do between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, has anyone done this trip? If so, anything along the way worth stopping for? Or is there a particular route which would be more intresting '3D' scenery if you like?

we're going to have about 4-5days to play around with getting down from Salt Lake, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    You could try this:
    1. Salt Lake City to Torrey for Capitol Reef NP.
    2. between Torrey and Bryce. Visit to Bryce Canyon NP
    3. Drive between Bryce and Zion NP. Red Canyon on your way. Very scenic ut9 into Zion. Short hike at Canyon Overlook Trail just before the 2nd (and long) tunnel.
    4. Zion all day.
    5. Zion to Las Vegas via Valley of Fire SP and the drive more or less along Lake Mead.
    This makes a magnificent trip.

Thanks for that YeeHaw, ive checked the route out on google earth, and it does look very impressive. Especially the scenic byway 12. This is looking like a winner.

  4. Default UTAH State Fair

    Hi All.

Has anyone experienced the UTAH state fair? If so what were your thoughts? Im going to be in and around Salt Lake City at the time the fair is running. Is it worth checking out? If so whats the usual highlights?

    Default Grand canyon ?

    Welcome to RTA !

You might want to include the Grand canyon NP in your plans. You could fit the North rim into your plans with Zion and Bryce canyon by 'playing' with Yeehaws suggestions, or you could head through Page to the south rim from Zion and Bryce. Alternatively, you could head to Moab from SLC [Arches and Canyonlands NP's] and then drive through Monument valley to the south rim.

A common theme around here is that there is no single 'best' route so I would recommend looking at a good map and researching through RTA and see what holds the most appeal to you. Sorry, I know nothing of Utah State fair.
