  1. Default Rocky Mountain NP to Death Valley NP

We are planning to drive the above (flying from UK to Denver and home from Las Vegas) over two weeks in August. We hope to take in a number of the Utah parks and sights but are happy to avoid the Grand Canyon having visited there before. I have a broad idea of route and what we may be able to take in but would be really grateful if anyone with knowledge of the area could provide any specific advice/recommendations with regard to route, detours, what not to miss, where to stay, etc.

    Default Lot's of options.

There are many great places and attractions between the two, but it's what holds the most appeal to you is what matters. It really helps if you share your 'broad idea' and interests and then we can make meaningful suggestions and help to 'tweak' what you have.

With 2 weeks you can do a reasonable amount and to cover the Utah parks you can go from Moab [Arches and Canyonlands] to Capitol Reef via Hanksville and on to Torrey. You can then get on Utah scenic 12 through Escalante to Bryce canyon and Zion NP.

What to do before then ? Well as for NP's, you have the possibility of Rocky mountain, Black canyon of the Gunnison and Mesa Verde perhaps. The Trail Ridge road in RMNP, Loveland and Monarch passes offer some great drives over the Continental divide. Near to Colorado Springs are Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and Cave of the Winds. Historic towns like Leadville [highest incorporated town in the USA] and Ouray and Silverton situated along the very scenic 'Million dollar Highway' are wonderful. You could drive the entire San Juan Skyway of which Million dollar Highway is part of that creates a loop from Ridgway to Durango to Dolores and back to Ridgway via Telluride.

That's a few of the many options and once we know where you are headed we can help to put it together.

  3. Default Thanks!

That's some response! Roadtripamerica helped us to a brilliant drive last year and looks like delivering again! Thank you. We'll take your advice, narrow our objectives and post again. I hpoe that you can help us again.
