  1. Default three girls from Athens Greece!

Hi everyone. We are three girls from Athens planning to enjoy US from 19/5/2012 till 5/6/2012.We will stay in La 6 days. Then we are thinking to book a 2 days (one overnight) tour to grand Canyon west (hualapai ranch We dont know if it is good-the price of the tour is very low! and we are a little skeptic for the quality...) and to spend 2 more nights in Las Vegas. Our next visit will be San Francisco (we will rent a car) but we really want to do the 101 highway ,to experience the coast scene. We could make a night stop to a nice place and then to continue to San Francisco where we will sty 4 nights. On 5/6 we have to fly back to New York and then to Athens.
we would really appreciate any suggestions for our trip. The most important is how to make the Las Vegas -San Francisco enjoying the coast...
    many thanks

Default Agreed - and Some Hints

Καλώς! Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

You are right to be a little cautious about the visit to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. First of all, this is not to Grand Canyon National Park but to the nearby Hualapai Indian Reservation. Secondly, even though closer to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, even this part of the Canyon deserves more than a quick visit. What I would strongly suggest, since Los Angeles is so much more accessible if you have your own car and there is so much to see between the cities that you have listed, is that you rent a car for the entire 2 weeks or so that you are going to be on the west coast and be in control of all your scheduling and destinations. I would also suggest that you look closely at doing a full loop road trip (e.g. Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon (South Rim), to Las Vegas, to San Francisco, to Los Angeles) so that you are not charged a one-way drop off fee on the car. It should also make your plane reservations more manageable and perhaps cheaper as well. Closing the loop also means that you get to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1, not US-101) from San Francisco to Los Angeles. One final benefit to doing a loop is that you can fly into and out of any city on the loop. It might prove cheaper to fly to Las Vegas than Los Angeles.
