Moving on Nov 6th from Everett to Phoenix AZ.
Driving a 14'uhaul towing car behind. Which route is best..
down I-5 or over Snoqualmie and down that side of the state?

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I-5 is the route I would take in your situation. Sticking to I-5 will allow you to stay on freeways the entire trip, which will really make things easier when you are in a moving van and pulling a trailer. There are shorter options, going through Idaho and Nevada, but to me they don't save enough miles to make them worthwhile in this situation.

One tweek, however, is that I wouldn't take I-5 all the way to LA. Instead I'd take CA-99 down the east side of the Central Valley (get on it either around Sacramento or Stockton), and then take CA-58 at Bakersfield to US-395 to I-15 to pick up I-10 around San Bernardino. This will still be freeway nearly all of the way, but will help you avoid most of the headaches that come with traveling through LA.

I would wait till the last minute to make a decision - and base it on the current road conditions and short-term forecast. If the conditions are not good in the Siskiyous and you need to take Snoqualmie, when you get onto I-15 in Utah, you will need to get over to US-89 - either directly at Nephi, via US-50 at Scipio, I-70 east at Cove Fort, or UT-20 between Beaver and Paragonah. I'd only do it if absolutely necessary, that involves a lot of 2 lane roads. Michael's suggestion to get around LA only involves about 30 miles of 2 lane, and it's good road.
