Sites to start with.
Hi, and Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forums.
You might like to start by checking out the BP and Shell sites. They appear to have trip planner functions with station locators.
Ah thanks .. didn't realize that...
In my travels, I think I've found that Shell is more consistent than BP. Here in MO along I-44, you won't find much of either - there's more Conoco/Phillips than anything else. In fact, here in Joplin, the only BP and Shell stations have closed in the past year and have become Conoco/Phillips. There's no Exxon/Mobil here either.
On I-40 and I-81, there are lots of Shell stations. Be aware that they are usually more expensive than everybody else, though. There are a few BP's, especially as you are in the east. Maybe Arco stations in the west take BP cards, though, as they are definitely related.
You're almost better off with reloadable Visa cards. Those can be used almost anywhere.
Arco stations do not take any credit cards - only cash or debit cards.
Yea, I just cashed out the cards.. easier to carry cash plus a lot of stations charge more when you swipe..
