  1. Default Help Plan My Trip Minneapolis to Los Angeles

So around the 2nd week in may my fiancee are driving to La from Minneapolis in just about under a week.
I really enjoy off the beaten path places and such, so please let me know if you have seen anything cool, or nice places to eat in any of these cities that I mention or near by attractions

    Day 1
Minneapolis to Deadwood, SD we will be driving South on 35 and then west on 90 driving through Sioux Falls. On our way to dead wood we plan to stop at the Firehouse Brew in Rapid City

    Day 2
On day 2 we plan to stop at Jewel Cave in the Black Hills national Forest spend a about a few hours here
Now I may or may not Drive to Jackson Wyoming. Granted there is no skiing since we are in spring and some may say whats the point, has anyone been in Jackson during May? I have never been here at all.

    Day 3
Now here i face a dilemma. At the end of this day I want to end up on Winnemucca or Elko Nevada. But I will have 5 to 6 spare hours. Should I drive north into Yellowstone, and around down south to Nevada, or should i drive south through salt lake city and eat at the Les Madeleines or Waffle House as seen on the food network.

    Day 4
Nevada City to Newman. Pretty straight forward. However I will drive through Reno, Sacramento, and Stockton? Any ideas here have not done much research or know of any good places to eat.

    Day 5
Drive into Yosemite in the morning spend the day and drive back to Newman. My fiancee has never been, but I know the Yosemite area pretty well.

    Day 6
    Drive Home

    Default Honeymoon or Death March?

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Sorry, but your proposed drives are simply not reasonable. You cannot drive over 600 miles a day. To assume that you can and make scenic stops, and stop at brew pubs, and take hour long hikes into caves, and stop at restaurants that are tourist attractions in their own right (and thus crowded) is just a recipe for disaster on what should be one of the most relaxed vacations you'll ever take. find more time for this journey.

    Default Agreed!!

Having driven from LA to Minneapolis and Minneapolis to LA, over several different routes, I would have to agree with Buck. There is absolutely no way you will be able to safely fulfill your wish list. Best go back to the drawing board.

    Wow that was pretty harsh.

First of all this is not a honeymoon. And this will be our second trip from the Midwest to the Southwest. First trip went pretty smoothly, had similar attributes; we visited Mesa Verde National park in CO spent 3 to 4 hours hiking, and arrived to our destination by night fall. So i have done it before.

Anyways I dont claim to be a road trip specialist, but i find it feasible. And all im really asking, is do you know of any great places to eat or see in the cities that I mentioned.
