  1. Default Boston, NY, Niagra Falls and New England

We are a family from England trying to plan a two week road trip. Our car hire Start/finish in Boston. We like the idea of going to New York for a couple of days, Niagra Falls and New England. Any ideas on how to avoid driving into New York City and where would be good to visit or stay on the rest of the trip, would be appreciated. Many thanks

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

If you want to avoid driving in NYC, your best be would likely be to either do a "one way" rental, leave the car in NY and take the train back to Boston, or just do a loop from boston, then make NYC a separate trip, again via train, looping to/from boston. Any other option is going to require either fairly significant parking fees, or making a rather long commute in on the rails from New Jersey.

Here are more ideas for the Boston-Niagara section.

Assuming you mean the city of NY the best bet would be the train. If you want to avoid driving through the city but want to see southern New York state Interstates 87 and 84 would be the way to go.
