    Default New Mexico/Texas Questions

So we decided to go with the desert road trip in April as opposed to a summer road trip through the northern tier of the country.

I was taking a look at some pictures on milebymile and aaroads and, other than Roswell, our west to east route from Albuquerque to Abilene is barren.

I had similar questions last year about Broadus, MT and the US 20 in Nebraska. Is this an area I should bring a gas can? It's a longer stretch of rural "nothing" than the Montana and Nebraska stretches we did in August.

We are heading on US 380 to US 84 before hooking up with the interstate again. What should we expect?

I don't think you need to worry. It looks to me like the longest distance between gas stations is less than 100 miles. I'd fill up in Roswell and Brownfield or Post.
