    Be cool to catch some whales on our road trip. Added this section as a side route to my planned journey.

    About a quarter of a mile before you reach Depoe Bay there is a bay where there is a resident pod of gray whales. I can't remember the name, but it's a stones throw from the town. You can observe the whales by going to the far end of the parking area (300yds) and looking to your left about 1000 yds. off the coast. They dive and surface about every 10 minutes
