Thread: Seattle yikes!

  1. Default Seattle yikes!

Truck + 35ft 5th wheel - from Vanc BC south then east to Spokane I5 to I90 - how to best avoid the Seattle spaghetti nightmare - or should we take the no. 2 from Everett

    Default overreaction?

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I've only spent a little bit of time traveling through Seattle, but being so freaked out by the traffic that you'd take a 2 lane highway across a mountain to avoid the city seems a bit over the top. I would think that just avoiding downtown by taking I-405 to I-90. Obviously trying to time the trip so you can avoid rush hour would be helpful too.

  3. Default not so bad then

didn't realize the No. 2 was secondary - and for sure the time of day makes a big difference - Seattle has a rep for the maze of freeways and how easily a missed exit can add many miles so wanted to avoid it in the easiest way

Seattle traffic is not that extraordinary -- I can easily name 15 cities with far worst congestion. Just take it easy and you'll be through in almost no time at all.

You only have 2 interchanges to deal with - 5 south to 405 south, and 405 south to 90 east. Neither one is a tight cloverleaf, they are both high speed high capacity stack interchanges with flyovers and flyunders. Piece of cake, you won't be anywhere near downtown.

  6. Default piece of cake

Sounds pretty straight forward - been into Seattle many times but never on the fast track trying to avoid downtown - thanks for the tips
