Thread: Help Needed

  1. Default Help Needed

I am travelling to the states in April of this year.
I will be tavelling with my mum who unfortunately is a really bad navigator so I want to get some expert advice before i make this final decision.

I was contemplating driving from Las Vegas to Anaheim. I was thinking that the cost of hiring a car and petrol would be the same price if not cheaper than 2 ppl flying and also this way we get to see some great scenery.

What I need to know is:

    1. Is it an easy drive or am i likely to get lost? (remember I will be driving and navigating)

    2. Is there places that you recommended to stop and look at on the trip?

    Thanks Heaps Everyone

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Taking the most straighforward path, you're looking at a 5 hour drive, and its all on freeways so navigating shouldn't be too bad. Of course, if you have more time, there are a lot of things you could see, or detours you could take away from the straightforward I-15 to CA-91. Places like Death Valley or Joshua Tree could be worked in, if you have time.

The biggest challenge will be the fact that it can be hard to avoid traffic anywhere in the Greater LA area.

    Default Navigating: Costs and Roads

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

I wouldn't be surprised either way on the cost of a rental car vs. flying, so be sure to look into that before making your final decision. Also look at flying into Ontario International Airport rather than LAX. But the basic drive from Las Vegas to Anaheim is simply I-15 to Corona, CA, and then CA-91 to Anaheim - motorways all the way until you get off to use the surface streets to your destination. Just keep in mind the one piece of advice given to every driver unfamiliar with L.A.'s freeways: Know the 2 or 3 exits which precede the one you want, and when you see them, start to keep right so that you are in position to get to yours.

    Default Ontario?

Wouldn't John Wayne (Orange County: code SNA) be a better bet?

Southwest has fares around $60 one passenger, one way. Takes about an hour.
