  1. Default Hiring a Classic?

    Hiya guys n girls

This is my first post on here, and its just a quick one.

Me and my friend are planning a road trip next year from New York to Miami. And we are wanting to do this in either of these cars: classic Ford Mustang or a classic Dodge Charger. Has anyone on here hired one of these cars? And are they reasonable cars to drive?

We are from the UK so we are trying to find somewhere we can rent one of these, i cant seem to find these on any of the main car hire companies!

Any help would be greatly apprieciated

    Default The American dream..........

will come at a price. Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

I doubt you will find any main stream rental company's with such offerings. You would need to search for "exotic" or "classic" specialist car rentals and you will need deep pockets as it's not going to be cheap, and even dearer if you are under 25 and then you could have issues if it is a one way rental.
A modern Mustang conv would be an easier and most likely more enjoyable option but all you can do is search for your dream.

I know nothing of these people and as such is not a recommendation but to help you get started try this link.

And also from the link is this link -- which enables searches by specific autos located around the USA for rental purposes -- Again we have no data on the efficacy of such a program -- but it is a cool tool!

    Default cost prohibative

Its very unlikely you're going to be able to rent such a vehicle, especially for a one way trip. The simple fact is that the costs of obtaining, maintaining, and insuring a classic sports car is simply too high to make them practical or profitable for rental car companies. The couple specialty companies that might be out there that would have what you want are going to be extremely expensive, and its very very unlikely that they would allow you to do a one way rental.

By all means, it doesn't hurt to search, and if you find something that works, please let us know, but I'd say its almost certain you're going to have to find something else.
