I live in beautiful Pennsylvania. I have many reasons for wanting to make a trip to California. Awhile ago, I decided that if my life hadn't improved in 3 years, I was going to basically walk the earth and see where I'd end up. I've been mentally preparing for a trip like this my entire life. I'll spare you all the nonsense (unless you need to question my motive).
But yeah, I love the idea of this forum. Has anyone tried to make it from East coast to West on a (very) limited budget? What was your experience?
The difference between me and most civilized folk is that I am not opposed to panhandling, guitarhandling, and dumpster diving. If I get stuck in Nebraska for a few years...oh well.
A friend of mine took a train out there a few months ago. Does anyone know about how much that would cost this summer? When I get out there, how easy is it to find youth & food centers? I have an uncle I can live with once I'm out there.
