  1. Default Fastest way from NYC to San Diego

I'm driving out to the west coast. How many days do you think will be reasonable to get there as quickly as possible without going crazy? Any suggestions on how to divide up the trip and safe places to spend the night? Any suggestions will be appreciated

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

There are a number of options, all of which are going to be pretty similar (within a hundred miles or so), so I'd see if there is anything you've wanted to see on a more or less direct route and go from there. Having said that, the shortest interstate route would basically be I-70 to St. Louis, I-44/I-40 to Arizona, I-17 to Phoenix, and AZ-85 and I-8 to San Diego.

Its about 2800 miles, and you're looking at five full days on the road. Even spaced stopping points would be Dayton, OH; Springfield MO; Amarillo, Tx; and Flagstaff AZ.
