    Default Kentucky to Grand Canyon

We are planning a motorcycle trip from Lexington, Kentucky to the Grand Canyon in June or July. We would like to stay off the interstates and see as many really good sites along the way. I thought Route 66 was a good road to go but was told it is now mostly I-40 (???). Also was told Nebraska was scenic. We would like any suggestions.

    Default Other Roads, Other Questions.

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Yes, US-66 was officially decommissioned over 20 years ago, and while parts of the old roadway still exist as various state and local highways, most of it west of Oklahoma City is simply gone, replaced by I-40. US-60, US-62, US-64, US-160 and a host of other non-interstate highways are still out there and will get you into the Grand Canyon area from Lexington. However, none of these roads will take you through Nebraska which is a fair bit out of your way. Before anyone can offer you any other suggestions, they'd have to know how much time you have for the journey and what your interests are.
