Default from NY to FL and back in january - help

    Hello, everybody.
i'd appreciate ur assistance - my brother and me plan to make a road trip starting January 5, 2009 till January 17, 2009. We intend arrive to JFK, rent a car there, and go down, maybe on Route 95, and finally reach Florida (if we will have time), and them get back to NY. What would u, friends, recommend to visit, what states and cities taking into consideration that we have never been in US, to see?
    Thanx in advance,
    Regards,
    Eugene

    Default Welcome

Hello Eugene and welcome to the R.T.A forums.

I am not familiar with the East coast but there are lots of threads that will give you lots of good advice by using the Search function.

Here's an excellent one running along I-95. and here's some places of interest in Florida.

That should get you started for now.

    Default All the big ones

The East coast of the US is the most populated, giving you a wealth of robust, vibrant areas to visit. A 12 day trip will allow you to go to Florida, and back to New York, without breaking a sweat. That would be a little over 200 miles a day, on average.

Along this general route you have the following:
    Baltimore, MD
    Philadelphia, PA
Washington, DC - I'd put in a couple of days here.
    Richmond, VA
    Charleston, SC
    Savannah, GA
Miami, FL - Compare the weather here to that in New York. You might not want to leave.

A fun route might be to take I-95 all the way to Miami. On your return trip, head over to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, that is, if you're not concerned with being out over the ocean (and under it!) in your car for a period of time.
