    Default Happy 100th to GM

Tomorrow, September 16th, marks the 100th anniversary of Will Durant's experiment in offering folks a selection in their cars. Also, in 1908, GM acquired Oldsmobile. In 1909, Oakland (now Pontiac), GMC, and Cadillac came on board. In 1911, Durant founds Chevrolet, but it didn't join GM until 1918.

1919- Fisher Body and General Motors Acceptance Corporation formed.

    Big Happy 1-0-0!!!

Default Hope they are around for their 200th B-day!

They are responsible for some very cool, classic cars!

    Thanks for the reminder.

    Default celebration

Interestingly, GM celebrated a century by finally unvieling their planned electric car, the Chevy Volt.

I supposed its appropriate since the cars' success could have a big role in whether GM is able to last for another 100 years.

Default Like the Volt's Design-- GM's Top Ten Vehicles

Looks like a great design. Looking forward to seeing them in the showrooms.

Of course, I'm still partial to Firebirds, having had a '67 and still with an '85.

GM Chose Their Ten Best Vehicles:

1910 Cadillac Model 30-- first enclosed car
    1912 Cadillac-- first electric starter
1927 Lasalle-- designer Harley Earl's first creation
    1930 Cadillac V-16-- first V-16
1936 Opel Olympia-- Germany's first unibody car
1952 Saab-- Saab's first production car
1955 Chevy Bel Air-- uncluttered design
1953 Chevrolet Corvette-- first American sports car
1964 Pontiac GTO-- first muscle car
    1996 EV1-- first modern electric

Well, I'm partial to 1967 for some reason.

Default The Volt is a great concept!

I can't wait until they start selling these alternative vehicles at prices that the "rest of us" can afford. :)

I'm partial to the 55 Bel Air myself. Although I sure wouldn't turn down the 53 Corvette!
