Las Vegas to San Diego - Sep 08

Hi I'm planning a road trip from Las Vegas to San Diego in September 2008 (leaving Las Vegas on 19th arriving in San Diego on 21st).

I'd like to make the trip as interesting as possible and don't want to be stuck in the car for hours on end, so any help would be greatfully received.

If possible the route should take in some interesting scenery and places to stop. My wife has to have regular breaks for coffee etc, so regular stops are a must.

Any suggestions?

The direct drive on I-15 can be done in about 6 hours, so if you've got up to 3 days to make this trip you've got a whole world of options.

One of the more popular options is to head down the Colorado River towards Lake Havasu City, and then go west through Joshua Tree National Park and the Palm Springs Area.

However, with your time you could also go out to the grand canyon, and then go down through Sedona and Phoenix before turning back west towards San Diego.

Of course that's just a rough start and an overview. This thread has many more specifics with tons of ideas on possibilities.
