  1. Default LV -> DW -> Yosemite -> SF in 3 days ?

    Hi there !

I'm planning a roadtrip in November or Januar, but I have some difficulties on a part of the journey.

This will be a part of the journey:

Day 1: Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park
Day 2: Death Valley to Yosemite National Park
Day 3: Yosemite National Park to San Francisco

    My questions are:

    - Where will be a good and interesting place to stay for the night in Death Valley ?

    - Whats interesting to see in Death Valley along the drive ?

    - What route will be good and scenic to drive from Death Valley to Yosemite ? I know Tioga Pass is closed this time of year.

    - Where around Yosemite will be good stay for the night ?

    - I'll be coming there in the winter days, so are both Death Valley and Yosemite okay to see this time of year? Is it safe to drive there with the snow and all that ?

I know the route could be better, if I had more days to do it, but unfortunatly I'm limited to the above days.

Default Three days is possible -- but pushing it!

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum. You can certainly drive those distances in three days, but you really won't have much time for sight-seeing. However, those three days will be chock-full of interesting sights. One of my favorite inns in the entire North American continent is in Death Valley -- Here is a field report about the Furnace Creek Inn.
    - Whats interesting to see in Death Valley along the drive ?
DV NP is one of my favorite parks -- there are 200 threads addressing this area -- the Search tool works well.

Here are a bunch of suggestions about possible routes.
    - Where around Yosemite will be good stay for the night ?
    Mariposa has some nice alternatives.

Not much snow in Death Valley -- and snow in Yosemite is generally not a huge problem.

    Happy Planning!

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

We've got a few hundred different threads talking about route, so you should have no problem finding lots of advice about things to do and places to stay already on the forum. You'll find links to some of our favorites in this thread.

As far as your trip goes, you should be fine. You'll have to go around via Bakersfield to get from DV to Yosemite, and you'll need to expect that drive to take up most of your day. Snow and weather shouldn't be too big of a factor, but you will need to bring chains into Yosemite just in case. They are available to rent or buy in towns outside the park if you need them.

  4. Default Thanks !

Thanks alot Mark and Michael for your useful help.

I will take a look at the links given.

Its a great forum and site this, with so much useful information.

Cant wait to do my Roadtrip.
