  1. Default 18 year olds from UK planning US trip

I'd love to go to the US in the summer (I'd have a budget of about £1000) and would love to do a road trip. I'm not entirely sure where I owuld go yet, I'd love to see New Tork as well as some places further south like Memphis. However I hear for an 18 year old in America renting a car is nearly impossible, and bying one for a short time is usless.

What should I do for my holiday?

I do think it is a shame but I do not know of any rental company that will supply a car to 18 year olds at this time. Pretty stupid really. But don't let that put you off. What you might like to do is have a look at going with someone like Trek America. I have not used them personally but a number of friends have any they rave about them. Their Best of the East package could be of interest, and is within budget, however they do tours throughout North and South America.
