    Default Moab Utah Weekend Getaway

Before winter hits full on and our schedules get too busy my wife and I are thinking of a Moab camping weekend.

Let me preface this by saying that my wife was never a road trip person, until we took a Denver to LA and up PCH road trip. Since then, she has fallen in love with seeing the country via our highway's and byways. In fact, the Moab camping trip was her idea.

Now, back to business....what kind of weather can we expect in Moab during late October / early November (yes I know, lots of notice :) ). What I've read online it shouldn't be too bad. 60 in the day's, 40's maybe 30's at night. Nothing our camping gear (and us) can't handle. Has anyone experienced Moab in this time of year? What can we expect?

I've found several camping sites that close late October, does anyone know if camping in the National park is frowned upon this time of year. I couldn't find any info on this.

If we go, we plan on leaving this coming Thursday evening (10/25) and return on Monday (10/29). Our main concern is the weather. I know it can be unpredictable...Denver got the first snow of the season yesterday, today it's nearly melted...Wednesday it'll be in the 70's. Any thoughts or comments on what we can expect in Moab?

    Thanks
    Willy

    Default Expect the Unexpected

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

As you noted, you could get any weather at this time of year, but the Weather Channel is calling for sunny with highs in the mid 70's and lows in mid 40's during the timeframe you have in mind.

Camping is available over the dates you have in mind, both Arches National Park and in the nearby Manti-La Sal National Forest. Most camping reservations for national lands are now handled by recreation.gov. You should be looking at Devil's Garden Campground in Arches or the 4 separate campgrounds in Manti-La Sal.

It is more about finances than adverse weather -- the recreation funding for those campgrounds ends in September -- but the weather is lovely in late October. Carry the usual self-rescue gear and you will be fine.
