Default Seattle to San Fran and back in a week

So I'm planning a late September road trip from Seattle to San Francisco, driving down the coast in three days, two days in the city and driving back I-5 in two more days. Did I mention I'm doing this solo?
Does anyone have must see places along the coast, particularly in Southern Oregon and into California? I'm also looking for ideas for two places to stay on the way down, roughly 300 miles apart.
    Thanks for the ideas!

Default Almost any town along the way

...will have good motels with great views of the ocean!

For example, your first night could be either Florence or Coos Bay, OR and your second night could be Fort Bragg or Mendocino CA.

The sideroads through Redwood National Park at Prairie Creek Redwoods and Avenue of the Giants, north and south of Eureka, CA, respectively, are worth your time. Other than that, just get used to lots of twists, turns and great vistas.

Keep in mind that your average driving speed going down the coast will be about 40 miles per hour for 930 miles if you cross to the coast west of Olympia, WA. It is rather slow, but scenic every step of the way.

Good luck with good, fog-free weather,

    Default Must sees?

    Thanks for the ideas!
I think I've decided roughly on Newport, OR and Eureka, CA for stopping places based on their somewhat even mileage from each other and my destination. Other than the Redwoods and Avenue of the Giants are there must see places I should stop along the way?

See these threads for a few ideas:

    Coast 1
    Coast 2
    Coast 3
    Coast 4

This will give you enough ideas for weeks instead of days.
