  1. Default Planning using AAA

I was wondering if anyone has used in-store trip planning with AAA and what you thought of it. Was it any more helpful than using online resources or any other research by yourself?

    Default It depends

I haven't used the service myself, but I worked for AAA in Arizona and worked with these Auto Travel specialists. They're good for helping you route a trip between attractions, and they are fairly familiar with the US in general, but best with their region.

I'd give it a shot, if nothing else, it's one more piece to the puzzle that you can use later on.

  3. Default

I worked for AAA as an auto travel specialist in the 90s and have kept my membership active and use their services. In fact I just ordered a triptik this week for a road trip in Oct. The triptik is the routing of your trip, and the maps include rest stops, hospitals, towns with food and lodging as well as attractions along the way. I find it a convenient form to use while traveling, but there are so many more free travel planning services online now, you may have found an equivalent service.
However if you travel a lot, AAA membership also includes road side assistance and hotel discounts, so it may be worthwhile. They also offer free tourbooks for each state which I use almost exclusively for finding attractions in each city, average temperatures, and hotel prices and descriptions. Also they are a source of free state and city maps for members.
If you're planning one large trip or travel often you might want to give them a try.
