Default Solo - very long solo

    Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and i'm not too sure if I am posting in the right section but I'll give it a shot.

I'm planning a solo trip for next summer. Need to get the cash saved up and everything along with that.

I need some help with what I should expect the costs of the trip would be and also from any of your experiences some stops along my path that would be interesting.

    Where I'm Heading:
    I'm Starting off in Massachusetts
    New York City, NY
    Philadelphia, PA
    Virginia Beach, VA
    Fort Campbell, KY
    Nashville, TN
    Memphis, TN
    Myrtle Beach, SC
    Jacksonville, FL
    Miami, FL
    Tampa, FL
    Baton Rouge, LA
    New Orleans, LA
    Houston, TX
    Phoenix, AZ
    Las Vegas, NV
    Los Angeles, CA
    San Francisco, CA
    Sacramento, CA
    Salt Lake City, UT
    Laramie, WY
    Cheyenne, WY
    Denver, CO
    St Louis, MO
    Chicago, IL
    Cleveland, OH
    then heading home from there

Haha I spent a while looking at a map working out places i wanted to see, if you couldn't tell.

Well any of your help would be great.

    Thanks, Merri

This is quite an adventurous plan! Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Have you done other solo outings? This Forum is full of solo adventurers and so I think you will find some helpful threads. Here are a few to get you started:

    BirdyBird's First solo trip
Tips for Solo campers and roadtrippers
Moderator Judy's tips (she is a super solo trekker)
    Jillian (another solo traveler)
An article I penned about the solo roadtripping experience
I need some help with what I should expect the costs of the trip
Generally, $100 per day makes a good estimate.

    Default How many

    Hi,

It looks like you've done quite a bit of homework so far. Now that we know how many miles, the next question is how many days?

To be able to really visit each of the 25 places you have listed will require more than a month. You could "whistle stop" the trip in that length of time, but you wouldn't get out of the car very often.

So, just how ambitious do you want to be?
