  1. Default Help needed - Short Road trip from NJ

    Hi everyone,
This is my first post on this website, and I was told to go here to get my questions answered.
I am planning a short road trip (approximately 3 days) during the week of August 27th to the 31st.

I am planning on leaving from New Brunswick, New Jersey (Central NJ).
The two locations that me and my partner had chosen were either Lake George, NY or Poconos, PA.

We want to choose which is the better of the two trips.
Also what are some things to do there and on the drive as well?

A little background about us, me and my partner are both in our young 20s, looking for a beautiful view, relaxing time off, fun activities and places to visit..

Hope theres someone there that can help.
    Thank you and best regards.

    Default Welcome!

I'm happy to hear that someone recommended you to come here - that's what we like to hear! I've yet to visit either area so all I can really do is welcome you to the site until someone who knows those areas comes along. Either destination should be an easy ride from New Brunswick but are you looking to maximise time at the destination or enjoy the ride? And why specifically did you choose those destinations as that will offer an insight into what you like and may affect the suggested route.

    Default Adirondacks and Lake George

The Poconos have now become largely a commuter bedroom community for northern New Jersey and while there are still some grand old lodges in the area, I suspect it is going to seem rather tame. The Adirondack Mountains, on the other hand, still have a freshness and "wildness" that you might find refreshing. Lake George is located at the southeastern corner of the area and is highly commercialized (but still quite beautiful). What I would recommend would be a night there and then take an extended road trip drive up NY-9 to Blue Mountain Lake and then zig-zag around. Very beautiful lakes and forests.

  4. Default Delaware Water Gap

If you do decide to go to the Poconos, check out the Delaware Water Gap. My partner took me there for a weekend trip for my birthday in June... I love taking photographs and the DWG was rated as one of the best places within a day's trip to take photographs at ... so that's what we did! It was beautiful up there, beautiful scenery. We hiked, had a picnic at a beach, took pictures, went canoeing, walked, talked ... it was really romantic! And I felt it didn't have at all the crowds that some areas of the Poconos can have.

We want to go back when it's fall and the leaves change.

    Whatever you decide, good luck!!!
