driving cross country with pets

Hi! New here, just thought I'd ask a bit of a tip, since I really couldn't find anything on it.

I'm moving from Oklahoma to New York in late August/early September, and I am planning on taking my 2 cats with me in the car. For those who have traveled with pets before, tips? Anything really will help, I've never traveled with pets and want their trip to be as pleasant as mine will (hopefully) be.

Dramamine worked for us.We went cross country with our Chihauhau,at most hotels it was an extra $10. Hope this helps.

We offer several tips for traveling with pets, and reviews of some of the pet travel literature. In addition, be sure to thoroughly read through Gen's tips, learned from ample experience traveling with her cat, Victor.

However, as both a former medical worker and pet owner, I must take exception to the previous poster's advice. Unless you know exactly your pet's weight and susceptibility to a given drug, the prescribed dosage for that drug, as well as the adverse side effects of the drug and how to treat them. I would not play Russian Roulette with my pet's health.
