  1. Default Planning question

is there anywhere on this site, or anyother site, where you can compare prices, let say driving or flying....

I am planning a summer trip for next year, from Omaha to LA....I will have me, wife, and 2 kids....

I don't mind driving, but I am trying to see if it is cheaper overall to fly or drive. I know if I fly, I have to rent a car.....

but the tradeoff is time I guess...

    any help...

Default For most of us -- time is the limiting factor

I am not aware of any web site that lays it all out with a comparison chart -- but the raw data is here on this site. Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum. You can use the Travel Registration search tools (above) to compare costs of air flights and car rentals. You can use the fuel cost calculator to estimate fuel costs and you can look here for more data.

Expense of a road trip is always going to be a consideration -- but for most of us, the real killer is getting enough time...

I think it might be less expensive to fly...

That is what I am thinking...I just need to get my facts before trying to win against the wife ;)

I want to drive, that way I can stop in mountains, then vegas, then Santa Monica....plus, more freedom....

by the way, thanks for the info....

The great thing about using a road trip to go some place, is that the final destination is just one more day on the trip -- every day can be a destination.
