  1. Default Best RoadTrip for Nightlife

Hi guys just got a couple of broad questions to start with. I used to live in Boston (2002 )for just under a year and unfortunately I didnt have a license so travelling at the time (and end of my stay ) was limited to major cities along the east coast ( still maybe better travelled than some on the east coast though! :D ). I have since been back twice and have seen most of the major cities that you can fly to from Ireland/England bar the south really!!

However we are thinking of going back again for 3 weeks around end of september early october and basically we are 3 young mid 20s Irish lads looking for scenery by day and nightlife by night!! We all drive so driving can be shared etc. I am assuming you could rent a car in chicago and drop it off in houston for example or what about buying a car and getting it insured how difficult cheap would that be compared to renting?

Dont really want to go back to San fran ( relatively if we drove north to south rather than east to west ) as its quite north in terms of where we would want to be driving i think. As at the moment driving from chicago to houston is an option or la through to san diego through to houston/austin. or down around mexico though i beleive tijuana and such areas aren't the safest places to be going from what friends have told us. Basically we are very open depending on where the best time socially can be had really!!!

    Any help much appreciated :)

    Default One-way rentals and such

One-way rentals, if you can find them, tend to be quite expensive, as there is usually a tacked on fee for this option. That said, a loop trip would be your best bet. Purchasing a car for a three week trip isn't really cost effective.

Since it seems you don't want to go to any cities on the East coast, Chicago would be a good place to start from - you could go from there to Los Angeles and back in this amount of time, without being rushed. You could stop in Denver, Las Vegas, et al along the way.
