  1. Default Recommendations for my Trip...

    Hi all,
In the next week a friend & I will be heading on a trip "just for kicks". We're hard core music fans and are looking to go to Graceland, Beale Street, & The R&R hall of fame. As of now the route we are going is...
    1.)Leaving NY
    2.)Philly
    3.)Washington DC
    4.)--------
    5.)Nashville, TN
    6.)Memphis, TN
    7.)St. Louis
    8.)Chicago, Il
    9.)Cleveland
    10.)NY

We are looking to spend about 1 day in each major city. Get up @ 7, drive to the next city and repeat the same thing daily.

Anyone know of any good spots to see along our trip, or in the cities we are heading to?

Also the drive between Wash DC & Nashville is way too long so does anyone know of a good town in between to spend a day in?

    Thanks all....-Pete

    Default A Driving Day

    Welcome to the RTA forum!

For that 4th day, I think I would just try to make it a driving day, where you stop an see things, but you don't explore any one place. You'll be drivng though very scenic country, so there will be plenty of places for quick stops to explore. You would be able to get to aound Knoxville using this method, which would set you up for a 3 hour drive into Nashville the next day.

i would definately see the monuments in DC, although i believe some of the Mall is still undergoing construction, am i wrong?

I thought that "Newseum" in Arlington, VA was so much fun, and very interesting... I found myself really engaged throughout the entire museum. The holocaust museum is good too, but definitely a "downer", obviously. If you're taking 81 South - there's Blue Ridge Parkway and it's SO scenic, Shenandoah's "Skyline Drive" is breathtaking! Also, the Luray Caverns are sorta cool, they're about 10 miles away from Skyline, exit 264 i believe. "The Natural Bridge" in Lexington, VA (??) is about 1.5 hours south of there off I-81as well.
