  1. Default Chicago to Mt Rushmore and Northwest

Hello, my wife and 3 children have decided to try and do the great American trip. We are planning on Flying from NJ to Chicago, renting an RV and going to Mt Rushmore and the upper Northwest, returning to Chicago and flying home. I have 14 days of RV'ing available, Pick up August 3 and return it Aug 17.

The only real thing I want to do is see Mt Rushmore and the black Hills, after that I'm open to anything.

Does any of the veterans out there have any suggestions in the time allowed? I enjoy driving, but I was looking at driving limited amounts each day and trying to really "see" some places, as opposed to traveling on main highways.
Thanks for your time and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a great holiday and welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! When you pick up your RV rental, you ought to print out this checklist and take it with you. Also here is a field report from South Dakota.
