  1. Default Christmas in Maggievalley North Carolina

I'm from Florida and we are planning a trip to north carolina in christmas. Will I need snow chains? Where can I rent them or buy them.

Default They are never a bad idea...

    Welcome to the RTA Forum

Having Chains when you'll be in an area with the chance of snow and ice is never a bad idea.

I don't think you'll be able to rent them for your trip, but you should be able to order them from any auto parts store.

That said, I suspect the majority of drivers in that area don't use them, and you'll probably be just fine without them.

    Default Count On It

Maggie Valley, NC is smack dab in the middle of the North Carolina ski area. In fact, the local resort prides itself on being the first to open and last to close each year. They are already open (albeit with man-made snow). So if you are planning on being in the area in late December, I think you should come prepared to deal with snow. Get your chains locally now and practice putting them on a few times in the warm, dry comfort of your driveway until you can do it without much fuss.

Great, I'm looking forward a white christmas. Besides skiing what else is there to do and see.

Hi Marlene (what a lovely name)

Besides skiing what else is there to do and see.
The Maggie Valley is right next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You could also visit Oconaluftee and its Museum of the Cherokee Indian.
