    Default Western Candian Road Trip

    Hello,
My husband and I will be flying to Calgary in a few weeks. From there we will drive to Vancouver and camp and hotel our nights. We know it's a about a 900 mile trip and we only have about 8 days. Is there anything we should definately see along the way? Any kind of advice or places to see would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!

Default You're in for a Great Trip!

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forums.

Calgary to Vancouver is actually only about 600 miles by way of the Trans-Canada Highway, but in any event that trip is one of the most beautiful on Earth. Be sure to take the time to visit Banff and Lake Louise. A couple of places to eat that my wife and I enjoyed are the Lake Louise Station for a quiet, out-of-the-way place, and brunch at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for a bit of affordable elegance. Of course, take the time to explore the great National Parks along the way such as Banff, Yoho, Glacier and Mount Revelstoke. But also this is a great place to 'inquire locally' and ask the locals about the back roads that will take you to the scenes and small towns that most people who just drive through miss. You've got the time to really explore some of this gorgeous country, take advantage. In the same vein, at the end of your trip. I recommend that you at least think about taking the ferry over to Victoria for a couple of days. The ferry ride itself is a trip, Victoria is a very enjoyable city, with sections that could have been transported whole from England as well as a very human scale downtown, and Butchart Gardens is world class. As I say, this is going to be a great trip - I envy you.

    Default Lunch, not Brunch

Well, thank you. But my wife reminds me that it was lunch at the Fairmont that was affordable. Brunch was expensive!
