  1. Default Tennessee to Boston in the Fall....HELP!

Hi my names Tammy. A friend of mine and I are going to move to Boston first week or second week of October. We are moving from just right outside Chattanooga, TN. If anyone knows anything of interest on the way, routes, restaraunts....anything they would like to share in regards to this route let me know. Or a webpage or book I could check out. I am a photographer and would like to take many photos on the way up. Thanks!

    Default Some Basics

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forums.

If you do some poking around through the threads listed at the bottom of this page as suggested entries into similar trips, as well as use the Search function on the toolbar just above your original post, you'll quickly realize that I-81 is often recommended as being one of the more scenic of the Interstate highways. There are a ton of attractions along this route and I'm sure that there are many that would appeal to whatever your tastes are. It has two significant benefits for your particular trip. It follows the trend of the Appalachian Mountains, and so will offer your best chance of seeing fall color during your trip and it avoids most of the large cities of the East coast. This last will be especially important if you're pulling any kind of trailer or driving anything larger than a pick-up or SUV. You can follow this one route all the way from Knoxville to Scranton, PA and then just take I-84 and I-90 into Boston, making navigation a breeze. Before offering any specific recommendations for things along the way, let me ask: How much time do you have for the trip? What are your interests, and your friends? What type of photography do you do - portraits, photo-journalism, scenery, storytelling, still lifes, avant garde? How much time do you want to spend outside of the vehicle during the trip?
