  1. Default Driving from Denver to Nashville

Our daughter just won first place in her state cheerleading competition, thus we will be driving from Denver to Nashville for Nationals. We thought that driving would give us a chance to show our kids a bit of the country that they have not seen. We are looking for ideas of places that that we should see as well as must sees. I know that we want to stop at the Arch in St. Louis but beyond that we are looking for a bit of help for great place to stop. Our kids are 6 and 10. Any Suggestions would be helpful.

Congratulations to her and welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum!

There is lots to see along that route -- one thing that would help us would be to know how long you have for the transit. Both going to Nashville and the return and when the roadtrip will be.

  3. Default Denver to Nashville

We will not have much time on the way out there we only about 3 days. Though on our return trip we will have about 6 days. We will be traveling in August.

As you know the most direct route between Denver and Nashville is about 1150 miles and so three days outbound is actually pretty reasonable, since you only have to cover 385 miles per day (unless, of course you need to reach Nashville early on the 3rd day!).

Be sure to stop at Hannibal, MO, because of its connection to Americana -- steamboatin', Mark Twain and all!

Near Alton, IL, you will find a visitor's center and recreation of Lewis and Clark's first winter camp (Camp Wood?), and don't miss the Gateway Arch and connected Westward Expansion museum on the waterfront in St Louis. More when I return to the office.
