There have been a number of posts about using Sherman Pass road as an alternative to one of the other highways in the northern part of the state. RoadTripper Dan, tried to access the pass from the east two days ago and reports that it is still blocked by snow. Currently there is about sixteen feet of snow near the summit.

This road is never plowed, so it is effectively closed until the Spring melt. But it is a truly gorgeous route in the summer and fall.
