• North American Bear Center - Ely, Minnesota

      Roadtrip Attraction
Big Ted may be the largest black bear that ever lived! He's huge, which means he mostly hangs out near the viewing area and observation deck waiting for food. Ted is younger and loves to cool off in the pond. Honey, the 3rd bear at the center, is more elusive. View the bears up close and personal, plus view specimens of other varieties and learn about their lives. On Friday and Saturday mornings, you can take close-up photos for a fee.

It's funny, the bear displayed in your photo doesn't really look all that large, but I saw another photo of "Big Ted" online and I concur, that is one massive black bear!
