On a cold December morning in 1675 a brutal battle was fought on this site between a militia of English colonialists and the native Narragansett tribe during King Phillip's War. Today, an impressive monument stands at the site in honor of all lives lost during this conflict. It is found at the end of a very peaceful trail through dense forest and swamp land. Besides the history, this is a rewarding and easy trail to experience a different natural habitat in central Rhode Island.

      If you go:
To get there, drive down Swamp Fight Monument Road past the houses until you reach the gate. There is no formal parking area, just pull off to the side of the road and walk along from there. The trail is about half a mile each way, one mile total round trip.
