The rectangle formed of four streets, 1st to Toledano and Magazine to St. Charles, is collectively known as The Garden District. These neighborhoods are renowned for their stunning historical mansions and for being quieter than the bustling French Quarter. Many of the homes date to the late 19th century and many historical markers are to be found throughout.

      If you go:
The best way to get there is to ride the St. Charles Streetcar from Canal Street and then explore the area on foot. The Lafayette Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in New Orleans and is located just one block south of St. Charles down Washington Avenue. There are many dining and shopping options along Magazine Street.
