• Palm Canyon, Anza-Borrego State Park - Borrego Springs, California

      Called a living desert museum, it is known for its desert bighorn sheep and its often spectacular spring wildflower bloom. It's the largest park in the state park system with hundreds of miles of trails and roads. Several short hikes can be taken from near the Visitor Center.

      If you go:
      Camping sites may be reserved up to seven months in advance, accommodating RVs, bicyclists, equestrians and tent campers. Day use is from dawn to dusk. The Visitor Center has limited summer hours. Be sure to bring plenty of water on any outings. Dogs are not permitted on trails or in natural areas.
